Great Lakes Institute 2006

- K-12 educators (formal and non-formal) are invited to a 3-day workshop that will change your perspective on Lake Michigan.
- Experience Lake Michigan on board the W.G. Jackson education vessel during a three-hour water quality cruise. Other sessions will focus on various aspects of the Great Lakes, from shipwrecks to fish species in this immersive two/night, three/day hands on workshop. Participants will reside in the cozy Learning Center cabins complete with showers and air-conditioning. This teacher retreat will showcase a variety of activities and resources to use in your classroom and provide ample time for reflection and networking with colleagues.
- Sessions begin Tuesday morning and continue through Thursday afternoon.
- Participants can earn 2 hrs. of graduate credit through Indiana University Northwest or Chicago State University, for an extra cost. Register directly with IUN on their website, www.iun.edu. Illinois teachers can receive CEUs for participating and Indiana teachers can receive CRUs.
- Registration is limited to 40 participants with a minimum of 20; contact the IDELC at 219-395-9555 or email gpetersen@duneslearningcenter.org to receive a registration packet and reserve a spot. Cost of the workshop is $225 and includes meals, lodging and lots of materials!
